Oncologym

UX UI APP DESIGN

Oncologym is a digital platform designed to support oncology patients through their recovery journey and beyond. The app promotes well-being, offers tailored resources, and provides post-treatment follow-up to ensure long-term support.

I conceptualized, designed, and prototyped the entire website, aiming to create a user-friendly experience that is both empathetic and empowering.

Problems

Cancer patients often face a lack of continuous emotional and physical support once active treatment ends. Many feel isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to rebuild their routines. There is a clear need for a digital tool that provides structure, motivation, and connection during recovery.

Goals

Design an intuitive and emotionally supportive platform

  1. Provide wellness content, activity tracking, and personalized recommendations

  2. Create a space where patients feel accompanied, not alone

  3. Ensure accessibility and ease of use for a diverse range of users

Research & Insights

I conducted desk research and reviewed testimonials from oncology patients to identify common post-treatment challenges. Key insights included:

  • A strong desire for structured routines

  • The importance of emotional support and motivation

  • Fear of relapse and confusion about long-term care

These findings guided the features and tone of the app.

Ideation & Wireframes

I began with low-fidelity wireframes to map out core functionalities:

  • Personalized dashboard

  • Daily wellness activities (physical, emotional, nutritional)

  • Progress tracking and reminders

  • Access to curated articles and meditations

These wireframes were refined through feedback and usability considerations..

Design System

For the visual language, I prioritized calm, soft tones and rounded elements to evoke warmth and safety. Accessibility was central—fonts, contrasts, and button sizes were carefully chosen to support users in different states of physical or emotional fatigue.

High-Fidelity Prototype

The final prototype includes:

  • A clean, welcoming dashboard with daily prompts

  • Easy navigation and clear hierarchy of information

  • Interactive elements like mood tracking and achievement badges

Reflection

Designing Oncologym was a deeply human-centered experience. It challenged me to think beyond aesthetics and consider how design can genuinely support recovery and well-being. I learned the importance of empathy in every design decision and how essential clarity is when addressing vulnerable users.
